Keto Paneer Cheese Tikkis/Patties

After 2 weeks of being away from my kitchen, I am back and I feel good. Let me break the radio silence by sharing this awesome but easy recipe for Keto Paneer Cheese Tikkis/Patties. I tweaked a recipe I came across in a Foodie FB group. The original recipe had rice flour and soya flour, which I avoid. So, here is my version of Keto Paneer Cheese Tikkis/Patties. There are no binding agents..but, the cheese helps the patties hold it together.

Cooking Time: 15 mins
Makes: 6 - 7 tikkis/patties

Ingredients:

Paneer/ Cottage Cheese - 100gms
Cheese slices - 2 (30 to 40gms)
Onions - finely chopped - 30gms
Capsicum/green bell peper - 40 gms
Salt - 1/4 tsp or according to your taste
Jeera(Cumin) powder - 1/2 tsp (or spice powders/dried herbs of your choice)

Method:

Crumble the paneer (cottage cheese) and knead it with the salt and spices. I only add jeera(cumin) powder..but, you can use your favorite spices here. You can add chilli powder, garam masala.. your choice and taste.

Once the dry spices are nicely incorporated, add the cheese slices and knead it all together. I used two 15gm Amul cheese slices. Use a soft and pliable cheese of your choice.

Once this comes together, add the chopped onions and bell peppers and mix them all nicely. Roll the mix into small equal-sized balls. I got about 6 to 7 balls.

Heat an appe/paniyaram pan or an ebelskiver pan. If you don't have either, do not worry. Any flat non-stick cookware like a tawa will do. I added a drop of ghee in all the wells of the pan. If you are using the appe/ebelskiver pan, stuff a ball into each of the wells. If you are using a flat tawa, grease it with ghee and flatten the balls on the tawa into patties.

After a minute or two, use a wooden skewer and turn the patties over in their wells. If you are using a tawa, turn the patties over and cook them on the other side.

The patties will be done after another minute or so. Spoon them off the appe/ebleskiver pan or the tawa and wait for them to cool a bit.

The tikkis/patties might fall apart if you handle them while they are hot. Have them while they are still warm. Its oh-so-cheesy with the right amount of crunch from the bell peppers. Pair them with your favorite sauce or mayo for a tummy full of goodness.

  1. How many tikkis should one have in one meal/one sitting? What is the appropriate portion?
